Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient system of Yoga and Wisdom
Ashtanga Yoga was taught by Vamana Rishi in the Yoga Korunta (an ancient sacred text).
This wisdom of Yoga practice was taught to Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya around the beginning of the 20th century by his Guru Rama Mohan Brahmachari in the Himalayas (India). Since 1927 it has been passed on to Sri T. Krishnamacharya (1888 – 1989) and later on to Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915 – 2009) during his studies with Sri T. Krishnamacharya .
Ashtanga Yoga was popularized and taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Guruji. The practice is realized in daily Mysore style classes (self-practice with individual instructions of the teacher) and once a week in a guided class.
Full moon and new moon days are resting days to practice Pranayama (conscious breathing), Meditation to focus more within.
